Dear musicians,
Roz Savage, the inspiring ocean rower is doing it again. The woman who rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic in 2005 is now underway on the second leg of her row across the Pacific. She completed the first leg, from San Francisco to Hawaii in 2008 and is now on Day 9 of her adventure.
Roz is doing this to raise awareness to the pollution of our oceans. Her message is quite simple: To tell all of us that we can make a difference. But it’s much easier for you to hear this directly from the source. Roz is maintaining a site, complete with podcasts, photos, movies, blogs etc. All of this while she’s rowing. You can follow her on twitter as well.
Go Roz.
Dear musicians,
If you’ve been considering a gig on cruise ships for your cover band and you want to have a leg up on your competition, you may want to get ready for Rock-a-roakie. Rock-a-roakie is the fun-for-passengers-but-not-so-fun-for-musicians activity where passengers sit in with the band and sing a song of their choice.
As you can imagine, this can easily and quickly turn into a nightmare for musicians as pax typically have 90% less talent than they think they have. I’m always amazed at how many people are oblivious to the fact that they don’t have an ounce of talent and are willing to make a fool of themselves on stage…not to mention the lack of respect that’s given to those that actually know how to make music, but I digress. more info
