The former 13th street in Berlin, Germany, was renamed to “Frank Zappa Strasse” after the the great American rock musician. Zappa, who has contributed many great albums to american rock music, died of prostate cancer in Berlin, in 1993.

On July 17th, Costa Cruises received their one millionth booking for 2007. This is a first for the 60 year old company and a testimony to their excellent product. more info
A new by-monthly online magazine for bass players will be launched August 1st. World-class bass industry professionals have apparently been assembled to contribute “how to” articles as well as accounts of their personal experiences.
Some of the editorial staff are: Bill Bartolini, Gary Willis, Billy Dickens, Alain Caron, Ray Riendeau, Michael Manring, Nathan East, Avishai Cohen, Adam Nitti, David Dyson, Todd Johnson, Al Caldwell, Phill Baker, Mark Wright, Dennis Moody, Chris Brandt, Damian Erskine and Chance Walte.
The magazine is also looking to incorporate audio and video, a feat that paper publications can’t offer.

In an effort to encourage its passengers to live healthier, Royal Caribbean International will tighten up their smoking policies on board 18 of their 21 ships. After this policy change, passengers will be able to smoke only on their stateroom balconies, on starboard outer decks and in designated areas in some bars and lounges.
According to the company, feedback from passengers was the driving force behind the policy change.
After Princess Cruises’ Pacific Star was damaged in a severe storm, the cruise line was forced to cancel the cruise and send passengers back home. Some of those passengers had their flight delayed by a note suggesting a bomb threat.
Authorities took the threat seriously, emptied and inspected the plane before flying passengers to Auckland, New Zealand with a 1.5 hour delay.

Sprint is now offering roaming service on some cruise ships for $2.99/minute. You’ll be able to receive and make calls from poolside. Charges will appear on your sprint bill.
Mobile broadband cards won’t work though.
